Requirements
AA instructors must meet the following minimum requirements:

For teaching: Avalanche Training Level 1; Avalanche Training Level 2; Victim Rescue Training:

  • Be a Silver or Gold Avalanche Australia Member
  • Successful completion of international training eg. CAA Operations Level 1, NZ Avalanche level 5 or equivalent.
  • Wilderness First Aid training or equivalent.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40116 or equivalent.

Additional requirements for all instructors:
  • Must have shadowed a minimum of 5 ATL courses with an experienced instructor.
  • Must have liability insurance.
  • Must show proof of industry involvement and log book to be submitted to the AA training department.
  • Previous enrolment in the cadet program is highly regarded.
